- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Husayn narrated to us; Abu Maʿshar narrated to us, from Saʿid al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “None of you will be saved by his deeds.” They asked, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Not even I—unless Allah envelops me in His mercy. So set out in the early morning, set out in the late afternoon, and devote a little of the night as well; keep to moderation, keep to moderation, and you will reach your goal.”
٢٣٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ لَا يُنْجِيهُ عَمَلُهُ» قَالُوا: وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَلَكِنْ اغْدُوا وَرُوحُوا وَشَيْئًا مِنَ الدُّلْجَةِ، الْقَصْدَ الْقَصْدَ تَبْلُغُونَ»
