- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us; al-Fudayl ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Mutarrif, who said: A trustworthy informant related to me that a young man from the Ansar was overcome by fear of the Fire. He secluded himself in his house, and the Prophet ﷺ came to him there. The young man rose, embraced him, gasped once, and his soul departed. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Prepare your companion for burial, for dread of the Fire has torn his liver.”
٢٣٤٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُطَرِّفٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الثِّقَةُ، أَنَّ شَابًّا، مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ دَخَلَ خَوْفُ النَّارِ قَلْبَهُ فَجَلَسَ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ فَاعْتَنَقَهُ وَشَهِقَ شَهْقَةً خَرَجَتْ نَفْسُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «جَهِّزُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ فَلَذَ خَوْفُ النَّارِ كَبِدَهُ»
