  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Husayn narrated to us; Duwayd narrated to us, from Sulaym ibn Bishr, from ʿIkrima, from Ibn ʿAbbas:

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Two believers will meet at the gate of Paradise—one a wealthy believer, the other a poor believer who had lived with him in this world. The poor man will be admitted to Paradise, while the rich man will be held back for as long as Allah wills. When the wealthy man is finally allowed to enter, the poor man meets him and says, ‘My brother, what detained you? By Allah, you were held up so long that I feared for you.’

The rich man replies, ‘My brother, after you went ahead I was confined in a harsh, loathsome detention. I was not released to join you until sweat poured from me—so much that, had a thousand camels, all of them grazers on hamd (bitter desert shrubs), come to drink from it, they would have left fully quenched.’”
