2330 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah and ʿAttāb informed us; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Yahyā ibn Ayyūb informed us, from ʿUbayd Allah ibn Zahr, from Bakr ibn Sawādah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“A generation from my ummah will arise who are born into luxury and reared upon it. Their only concern is the varieties of food and the varieties of clothing, and they indulge in pompous speech. Such people are the worst of my ummah.”
