2329 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Abu Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; al-Aʿmash narrated to us, from Abu Rāshid, from Abu Ṣāliḥ al-Ḥanafī, who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Allah—Exalted is He—is Most Merciful; He bestows His mercy only upon one who is merciful, and He admits into Paradise only a merciful person.”
They said, “O Messenger of Allah, we are merciful toward our wealth and our families.”
He replied, “That is not what I mean. Rather, it is as Allah—Exalted is He—has said: ‘He is deeply concerned for your welfare; to the believers He is kind and merciful.’ ⦗Qur’an 9:128⦘”
٢٣٢٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – رَحِيمٌ لَا يَضَعُ رَحْمَتَهُ إِلَّا عَلَى رَحِيمٍ وَلَا يُدْخِلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا رَحِيمًا قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَنَرْحَمُ أَمْوَالَنَا وَأَهْلِينَا: قَالَ: لَيْسَ بِذَلِكَ وَلَكِنْ مَا قَالَ اللَّهُ – Exalté soit-Il –: ﴿حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ﴾ "
