2320 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, saying, “I found in my father’s manuscript, written in his own hand: I was informed by one of the sons of Ismaʿil ibn ʿAbd Allah, from his father, and also by Muhammad ibn Shuʿayb, that Abu Muslim al-Khawlani used to supplicate in the nāfila (voluntary prayer), saying:
‘Allāhumma urzuq Abā Muslim ṭabīkhā (O Allah, provide Abu Muslim with stew); Allāhumma urzuq Abā Muslim ṭabīkhā (O Allah, provide Abu Muslim with stew); Allāhumma urzuq Abā Muslim zaytan (O Allah, provide Abu Muslim with oil); Allāhumma urzuq Abā Muslim ḥaṭaban (O Allah, provide Abu Muslim with firewood).’
In that prayer he would ask for whatever else he wished.
