2299 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Bakkar narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from ʿAli ibn Ṭalq, who said: I heard Ibn Muhayriz say, “Whoever walks ahead of his father has been undutiful to him—unless he does so to remove harm from his father’s path. And whoever addresses his father by his given name or by his kunyah has likewise been undutiful—unless he says, ‘O my father.’”
