2280 – ʿAbd Allah related to us; Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad ibn Fudayl, a resident of Raʾs al-ʿAyn, related to me; Yazid ibn ʿAbd Rabbihi related to us; Baqiyyah related to us. He said: I heard Rashid ibn Abi Rashid say that Yazid ibn Maysarah would often say:

“A blessing accompanied by gratitude is never harmful, nor is a trial borne with patience, nor any hardship faced while one remains obedient. Obedience to Allah is better than enjoying a blessing through disobedience to Him.”
