2253 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us; Sulaymān narrated to us, from Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl—or someone else—that Abū Muslim al-Khawlānī once came upon the Tigris while it was in flood, its torrent flinging logs downstream. He walked across the water, then turned to his companions and said, “Has anyone lost any of his baggage, so that he may call upon Allah—exalted is He—for it?”
