2220 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Surayj narrated to us; Mahdi—meaning Ibn Maymun—narrated to us, from Yunus ibn Khabbab, who said:
Mujahid, who was like a brother to me, said, “Shall I not inform you who the awwāb al-ḥafīẓ—the ever-repentant, vigilant servant—is?”
I replied, “Yes, please do.”
He said, “He is the man who, whenever he is alone, remembers his sin and seeks forgiveness for it.”
