Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

2212 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Wahhab al-Khuffaf narrated to me; ʿUthman Abu Salamah al-Khayyat—one of the senior companions of Ibn ʿAwn—informed us, from Muhammad ibn Wasiʿ, who said:

“It has reached me that one of those who are cast into the Fire will drag his aqtab—that is, his intestines—and they will whirl him about as a millstone turns. It will be said to him, ‘Were you not someone who enjoined good and forbade evil?’ He will reply, ‘Yes indeed, but I used to enjoin good while acting contrary to it, and I would forbid evil yet fall into it myself.’”
