2204 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Razzaq narrated to us; my father informed me:
Tawus was engaged in prayer on a cold, overcast morning. While he was in prostration, Muhammad b. Yusuf—Abu Ayyub b. Yahya—passed by with his retinue. He ordered that a sāj or a ṭaylasān (a cloak) be thrown over Tawus. The latter did not raise his head until he had completed his prayer. When he pronounced the salutation, he looked and found the cloak upon him; he shook it off, did not so much as glance at it, and went straight to his house.
