2176 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿUmar ibn Ayyub narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Burqan narrated to us, from Ibn Munabbih, who said:
“Blessed is the one who turns his gaze to his own faults instead of the faults of others; blessed is the one who humbles himself before Allah without feigned wretchedness, who shows mercy to the downtrodden and the poor, who gives charity from wealth acquired without disobedience, who sits with people of knowledge, forbearance, and wisdom, and for whom the sunnah suffices so that he never trespasses beyond it into bidʿah (religious innovation).”
