2145 – ʿAbdullah narrated to us; he said: I found in my father’s notebook: Abu Muʿawiyah al-Ghalabi narrated to us; Saʿid ibn ʿAmir narrated to us; he said: “When al-Jurayri returned from a journey, his brothers came to greet him. He began recounting to them the favors Allah had shown him on that trip—the things he loved—and the misfortunes He had kept away from him—the things he disliked. He spoke about this with fine style and eloquence, and then said: ‘It used to be said: Part of gratitude is to enumerate one’s blessings.’”
