2092 – ʿAbdullah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Wakiʿ narrated to us; al-Aʿmash, from Khaythama, from al-Harith ibn Qays al-Juʿfi, who said: “When you are engaged in a matter concerning the Hereafter, persevere; when you are engaged in a matter concerning this world, proceed with caution. Whenever you determine to do something good, do not put it off, and if Satan approaches you while you are praying and says, ‘You are just showing off,’ then lengthen your prayer all the more.”
