2078 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Ḥajjāj narrated to us; al-Masʿūdī narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim, from Abū Wāʾil: Whenever he had completed the late-night (ʿIshāʾ) prayer, he would place his forehead on the ground in prostration and say,
“O Allah, if You pardon me, You pardon me as a gracious favor from Yourself; and if You punish me, You punish me without injustice and beyond the reach of anyone who might oppose You.”
