Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

2061 – ʿAbd Allah related to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim related to me; ʿAli ibn Ishaq narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah informed me; ʿIsa ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; Hawt ibn Rafiʿ told me that ʿAmr ibn ʿUtbah used to make it a condition with his companions that he would act as their servant. He said: One day he went out to tend the flock during intense heat, and some of his companions came upon him to find a cloud casting its shade over him while he stood. Bishr exclaimed, “O ʿAmr!” whereupon ʿAmr bound him to secrecy, urging him not to tell anyone what he had seen.
