1975 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Nasr ibn al-Mughira narrated to us; Jarir narrated, from al-Aʿmash, from Mundhir al-Thawri, who said:
Al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym said, “Do not say, ‘Allahumma innī atūbu ilayk (O Allah, I repent to You),’ and then fail to repent, for that would be a lie and would count as a sin. Rather say, ‘Allahumma tub ʿalayya (O Allah, turn toward me and accept my repentance).’”
