1974 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to me; Qabisa narrated to us, from Sufyan, from the maidservant of al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym, who said:
“Al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym was fond of ḥalwā (sweets). He would say, ‘Prepare some food for us,’ so we would cook a large quantity for him. He would then invite Farrukh and another man, feed them with his own hand, serve them their drink, and he himself would drink whatever was left in their cups. People would remark, ‘These two have no idea what you are giving them to eat!’ He would reply, ‘But Allah knows.’”
