Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1966 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿAjlan, from Nusayr Abu Tuʿmah, who said:

“Al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym stood in prayer and kept reciting a single verse until daybreak: ‘Or do those who commit evil deeds think that We shall treat them like those who believe and do righteous deeds—equal in their life and in their death? Evil indeed is the judgment they make!’ (Surah al-Jathiyah 45:21). He continued to bow and prostrate until the morning.”
