1943 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Khallad ibn Yahya al-Salami narrated to me; Sufyan narrated to us; the maid-servant of al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym informed me, saying: “All of al-Rabiʿ’s acts of worship were done in secret. Indeed, a man would enter while the mushaf (Quran codex) lay open before him, and he would quickly cover it with his garment.”
