1936 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-Walid narrated to me; ʿAtaʾ ibn Muslim al-Khaffaf narrated to us, saying: I heard al-ʿAlaʾ ibn al-Musayyab say, “A horse belonging to al-Rabiʿ was stolen. The people in his gathering said, ‘Supplicate to Allah—exalted is He—against the thief.’ He replied, ‘Rather, I shall supplicate to Allah—exalted is He—for him: “O Allah, if he is wealthy, turn his heart (toward righteousness), and if he is poor, enrich him.” ’”}
