1933 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar ibn Aban ibn Salih narrated to us; Ibn Mubarak narrated to us, from Sufyan, who said: Al-Rabiʿ ibn Khuthaym was struck with falij (paralysis). Someone said to him, “Why not seek treatment?” He replied, “I intended to do so, but then I recalled ʿAd, Thamud, the People of al-Rass, and the many generations between them. They had physicians and healers, yet neither healer nor patient remains.”
