Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1927 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abū Hāshim narrated to me; ʿAlī ibn Yazīd narrated to us; Ḥammād al-Aṣamm al-Ḥimmanī narrated to us, from one of al-Rabīʿ’s companions, who said: “More than once we would tidy his hair for him in the evening—he had thick, flowing locks—and then at daybreak the parting would still be exactly as we had arranged it. From that we knew that al-Rabīʿ had not laid his side on his bed for the entire night.”
