1924 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Hashim Ziyad ibn Ayyub narrated to me; Abu Nuʿaym narrated to us; ⦗267⦘ ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿAjlan narrated to us; Bashir narrated to me:

A beggar once came asking at the door of al-Rabiʿ, so al-Rabiʿ said, “Feed this beggar some sugar.” The people of the household replied, “He only wants us to give him a piece of bread.” He insisted, “Give him sugar, for al-Rabiʿ loves sugar.”
