1909 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Dawraqi narrated to me; Siyyar narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us. He said: I heard Farqad al-Sinji say, “I found in the Torah: ‘Whoever wakes up grieving over this world wakes up resentful toward his Lord—Highly exalted is He; whoever sits with a wealthy man and abases himself before him loses two-thirds of his religion; and whoever is struck by a calamity and then complains of it to people is, in reality, complaining against his Lord—Highly exalted is He.’”
