1907 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Ghalābī narrated to us; a man who had been one of Mālik ibn Dīnār’s regular companions narrated to me. He said: “I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār say to the people sitting with him, ‘My friends, there are some here who wish to claim a share with the qurrāʾ (Qur’an reciters) and a share with the umarāʾ (rulers). As for you, be the Reciters of the All-Merciful—may Allah bless you all.’”
