- ʿAbd Allāh related to us—my father related to us—Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr related to us—ʿImrān, that is, the son of Zāʾidah ibn Nashīṭ, related to us, from his father, from Abū Khālid—namely al-Wālibī—from Abū Hurayrah, who reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah, Exalted is He, declared: ‘O son of Adam, give yourself wholly to My worship and I will fill your heart with contentment and relieve your poverty. But if you do not, I will fill your heart with distraction and will not relieve your poverty.’”
١٩٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ، يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَائِدَةَ بْنِ نَشِيطٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، يَعْنِي: الْوَالِبِيَّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ: " قَالَ اللَّهُ – Exalté soit-Il –: ابْنَ آدَمَ، تَفَرَّغْ لِعِبَادَتِي أَمْلَأْ صَدْرَكَ غِنًى، وَأَسُدَّ فَقْرَكَ، وَإِلَّا تَفْعَلْ مَلَأْتُ صَدْرَكَ شُغْلًا، وَلَمْ أَسُدَّ فَقْرَكَ "
