- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—my father narrated to us—Wakīʿ narrated to us—ʿAlī ibn ʿAlī told me—he said: I heard al-Ḥasan say: “It has reached us that the poor among the Muslims will enter Paradise forty years before their affluent counterparts, while the latter will be left kneeling on their knees. Their Lord—Exalted is He—will then approach them and say, ‘You were the judges of the people and the overseers of their affairs; now I have a need and a request to put to you.’” Al-Ḥasan continued, “There, by Allah, awaits a most severe reckoning—except for those to whom Allah, Exalted is He, grants ease.”
