1890 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: I was informed, through Sayyār; Jaʿfar narrated to us; he said: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār say:
“It has reached us that in one of the heavens there are angels such that whenever any one of them utters tasbīḥ (declares Allah’s transcendence), there falls from that very tasbīḥ another angel who then stands, glorifying Allah. In one of the heavens there is an angel whose eyes are as numerous as the pebbles and the dust and as plentiful as the stars in the sky; not a single eye of his exists without another eye beneath it and two lips, and he praises Allah—exalted is He—in a tongue that the one beside him cannot fathom. Moreover, the bearers of the Throne have horns, and between the tips of those horns lies a distance of five hundred years, while the Throne is above the horns.”
