1888 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Bukayr narrated to us; ʿAbbād ibn al-Walīd al-Qurashī al-Baṣrī narrated to us. He said: Mālik ibn Dīnār said: “Were it not that people would say, ‘Mālik has gone mad,’ I would put on musūḥ (rough woolen garb), scatter ashes upon my head, and walk through the streets proclaiming, ‘Whoever sees me, let him never disobey Allah – exalted is He –!’”
