- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—my father narrated to us—Jarīr narrated to us—from Manṣūr—from Hilāl—from Farwah ibn Nawfal al-Ashjaʿī, who said: “I was a neighbor of Khabbāb. One day I came out of the mosque and he took me by the hand and said, ‘Dear fellow, draw near to Allah as best you can, for you will never come closer to Him with anything more beloved to Him than His own Speech.’”
