1854 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: I was informed by Sayyār; ʿAbd Allah ibn Abī Shumayṭ related to us from his father, who said: Saʿīd ibn Jubayr wrote to Abū Sawwār al-ʿAdawī:
“ammā baʿd (to proceed), my brother: beware of people and spare them any harm from yourself; let your house suffice you and weep over your own sin. Whenever you see someone who has stumbled, praise Allah who has granted you well-being, and never feel safe from Satan’s deception for as long as you live.”
