1827 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: I was informed by Zuhayr al-Bunani, who said: I was told that Muwarriq used to fast year-round, breaking his fast with only two light flatbreads. He had some capital with which he engaged in trade from whatever surplus remained, then he would give that surplus in charity to those in need and use it to assist his brethren. He used to say, “Had it not been for the poor, I would never have ventured into business.”
