1803 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said, “I read this to him.” ʿAffan narrated to us, from Hammad; Thabit narrated to us, from ʿUqbah ibn ʿAbd al-Ghafir, who said:

“A supplication voiced in secret is better than seventy made openly. And when a servant performs a good deed in public and then does the same in private, Allah—exalted is He—declares, ‘This servant of Mine is truly genuine.’”
