1794 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us and said: “I found in my father’s notebook that Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Ghalābī narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn ʿĀmir narrated to me, from ʿAwf al-Aʿrābī, that he used to say to those sitting with him:
‘By Allah, what we impart to you is not born of ignorance; rather, we are reminding you of part of what you already know, in the hope that Allah will cause it to benefit you.’”
