1793 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us and said: “I found in my father’s notebook that Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Ghalābī narrated to us; Sahl ibn Aslam al-ʿAdawī narrated to me, saying: ʿAwf al-Aʿrābī came to console me over my father and said:
‘Know that after this separation there will be a reunion. If you are able to meet your father without feeling any shame before him, then do so: should he have left a waṣiyyah (bequest), carry it out; an amānah (entrusted item), return it; a dayn (debt), settle it; or a tie of raḥim (kinship), maintain it.
And know that after that reunion there will follow another separation, and then either a reunion after which there will be no separation, or a separation after which there will be no reunion.’”
