1792 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Muʾammal narrated to us; Hammad narrated to us, from Hisham, who said:
“Whenever Muhammad [ibn Sirin] walked, he would not look behind him. Hisham continued: On an Eid morning I set out early, hoping that when he came out I could follow him and watch what he did on his way and at his musalla (outdoor prayer ground). It seems he realized this, so he delayed beyond the time he usually went out. I waited for him to appear, and when the delay grew long he finally emerged. I followed him; he turned, saw me, and said, ‘Had you been a thief, ⦗251⦘ you would have been a wicked man! If I had known that this would benefit both you and me, I would not have minded.’”
