1784 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Harun ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to me; Sayyar narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated that he heard Thabit al-Bunani say:
“There was a young man in the bloom of youth. His mother used to admonish him, saying, ‘My dear son, you have an appointed Day—so remember your Day.’
When Allah’s decree descended upon him, his mother threw herself over him, repeating, ‘My son, I used to warn you about this very moment, telling you: You have a Day—so remember your Day.’
He replied, ‘Mother, I have a Lord of boundless generosity, and I hope that today He will not deprive me of some of His generosity—exalted is He—and that He will forgive me.’
It is said that he died—may Allah have mercy on him—while harboring a good opinion of Allah in that very state.”
