1778 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-Hasan narrated to us; he said: Damrah wrote to us, from Rajaʾ ibn Abi Salamah, from Ibn ʿAwn, who said: When death approached Ibn Sirin, he said to his son, “My dear son, settle my debts for me, and settle on my behalf only what fully discharges the obligation.” His son asked, “Father, shall I emancipate a slave on your behalf?” He replied, “Allah—Exalted is He—is surely able to reward both me and you for whatever good you do.”
