1762 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Siyyar narrated to us; Hafs narrated to us, from al-Muʿalla ibn Ziyad al-Qardawsi, who said: Muwarriq al-ʿIjli declared, “There is a thing I have been pursuing for twenty years without mastering it, yet I shall never abandon the quest for it.” They asked, “What is it, Abu al-Muʿtamir?” He replied, “To keep silent about that which does not concern me.”
