1756 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Rawḥ narrated to us; Abū al-Ashhab narrated to us. He said: They reported from Muwaṛriq al-ʿIjlī, who said, “No wealth liable to zakat has ever accumulated with me. And for twenty years I have been beseeching my Lord—exalted is He—for one request. He has not yet granted it, yet I have never despaired of receiving it.” They asked, “What is that request?” He replied, “I have been asking Him that I speak only about matters that concern me.”
