1736 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Abu Kamil narrated to us; Hammad narrated to us, from Humayd, who said:
When ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz was proclaimed caliph he wept and said, “O Abu Qilabah, are you afraid on my behalf?”
I replied, “How strong is your affection for the dirham?”
He answered, “I do not love it.”
So I said, “Then have no fear; Allah—exalted is He—will assist you.”
