1732 – ʿAbdullah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Rahman narrated to us; Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Rajaʾ Abu al-Miqdam, from Humayd, who said:
ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz said, “I forgo a great deal of speech out of fear of boasting.”
١٧٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ رَجَاءٍ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ: «إِنِّي لَأَدَعُ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْكَلَامِ مَخَافَةَ الْمُبَاهَاةِ»
