He also said: “Whoever would like to be the strongest of people, let him place his trust in Allah—Exalted is He; whoever would like to be the most noble of people, let him fear Allah; and whoever would like to be ⦗240⦘ the richest of people, let him be content with the provision Allah grants.

Then he said, “Shall I inform you of the worst among you?” We replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “It is the one who keeps to himself, withholds his hospitality, and beats his servant.”

He then said, “Shall I inform you of someone even worse than that?” We said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “The person who hates people and whom the people hate.”

He continued, “Shall I inform you of someone worse still?” We said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.” He said, “Those who never overlook a stumble, never forgive a sin, and never accept an excuse.”

He then said, “Shall I tell you of one even worse than this?” We said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “The person whose evil is feared while no good is hoped for from him.”

Indeed, Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, once stood before the Children of Israel and said: “O Children of Israel, do not speak wisdom in front of the ignorant, for you will wrong it; and do not withhold it from those who deserve it, for you will wrong them. Do not wrong one another, and do not repay an oppressor with oppression, lest your own virtue be nullified. Matters are of three kinds: a matter whose guidance is clear to you—so follow it; a matter whose error is clear to you—so avoid it; and a matter over which there is disagreement—refer it back to Allah—Exalted is He.”

وَقَالَ: " مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَقْوَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il –، وَمَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَكْرَمَ النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللَّهَ، وَمَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ⦗٢٤٠⦘ أَغْنَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَكْتَفِ بِرِزْقِ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: الَّذِي يَنْزِلُ وَحْدَهُ ويَمْنَعُ رِفْدَهُ وَيَجْلِدُ عَبْدَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: «الَّذِي يَبْغَضُ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغَضُونَهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الَّذِينَ لَا يُقِيلُونَ عَثْرَةً وَلَا يَغْفِرُونَ ذَنْبًا وَلَا يَقْبَلُونَ مَعْذِرَةً» ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ هَذَا قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: " مَنْ خِيفَ شَرُّهُ وَلَمْ يُرْجَ خَيْرُهُ إِنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ قَامَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ َالَ: يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ َا تَكَلَّمُوا بِالْحِكْمَةِ عِنْدَ الْجُهَّالِ فَتَظْلِمُوهَا وَلَا تَمْنَعُوهَا أَهْلَهَا فَتَظْلِمُوهُمْ، وَلَا تَظْلِمُوا بَيْنَكُمْ وَلَا تُعَاقِبُوا ظَالِمًا بِظُلْمِهِ فَيَبْطُلَ فَضْلُكُمْ إِنَّمَا الْأُمُورُ ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَمْرٌ بَيِّنٌ لَكَ رُشْدُهُ فَاتَّبِعْهُ، وَأَمْرٌ بَيِّنٌ لَكَ غَيُّهُ فَاجْتَنِبْهُ، وَأَمْرٌ اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ فَرُدَّهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il – "
