Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1695 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to me; Sufyan ibn Wakiʿ narrated to me; Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from al-Mājishūn, who said: ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz once spoke to al-Walid about some matter. Al-Walid retorted, “You are lying!” ʿUmar replied, “I have not told a lie since I learned that lying harms the one who does it.”
