1669 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us, and ʿAli ibn Muslim as well. They said: Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; ʿAbbād ibn ʿUmar al-ʿAbdī narrated:

I said to al-Hasan, “O Abu Saʿīd, what are the al-ḥūr al-ʿīn (the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise)?” He replied, “They are the elderly women of this world whom Allah will bring forth anew in another creation.”

Yazīd ibn Maryam al-Salūlī then asked, “O Abu Saʿīd, who related this to you?” Al-Hasan pushed back the cuff of his shirt and said, “So-and-so son of so-and-so from the Muhājirūn, and so-and-so son of so-and-so from the Anṣār,” until he had counted five from the Anṣār and four from the Muhājirūn—or four from the Anṣār and five from the Muhājirūn.
