1644 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Ḥajjāj narrated to us; Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt reported, on the authority of Manṣūr al-Sulamī, that al-Ḥasan said:
“Recite the Quran only so long as it keeps you from what it forbids; if it does not restrain you, then you are not truly reciting it. Many a person who carries jurisprudence is no jurist, and whoever gains no benefit from his knowledge will be injured by his ignorance.”
