Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1628 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Hashim narrated to us; Abu Saʿid narrated to us, from al-Qasim, who said: al-Hasan remarked, “Even if we had no sins to fear for ourselves other than our love for this world, we would still be afraid on that account. Allah — exalted is He — says: ‘You desire the fleeting gains of this world, while Allah desires the Hereafter’ (8:67). Therefore, desire what Allah — exalted is He — desires.”
