1618 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Sufyan narrated to us; Wakiʿ narrated to us; Fudayl narrated to us, from al-ʿAlaʾ ibn al-Musayyab, who said: al-Hasan al-Basri remarked, “How beautiful is the eye that sheds tears in the depths of night out of fear of Allah—may He be exalted.”
١٦١٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ: قَالَ الْحَسَنُ الْبَصْرِيُّ: «يَا حُسْنَ عَيْنٍ بَكَتْ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il –»
